Autumn is here!!! With the cooler temps it is the perfect time to get out and about with your baby and the stroller! If you are in the Midwest like we are then there are TONS of trails to explore. My sister and I love taking long walks with the kids!
Have you ever been to the zoo or the park and you see a mama pushing a stroller….she is using all of her strength to get it up hill…and she is positioned in a way that her upper body is parallel to the ground? Pushing a stroller may seem simple...but you may be making a few common mistakes that could be causing neck, shoulder, and back pain!
TOP 3 TIPS
FOR PROPER STROLLER POSTURE
Hold the stroller close to your body. As you step forward use the momentum to push the stroller forward, don’t rely solely on your arms.
If you are TALL like we are….make sure you buy a stroller that has an adjustable handle bar. That way you don’t have to slouch over while pushing the stroller.
Travel lightly! I’m that Mama that has WAY too much baby gear with her and I learned the hard way that the more I try and stuff into the stroller the harder it is to push!
Since my husband is tall (6’4″) it made the most sense for use to buy a stroller that has an adjustable handle bar. We were able to test out several strollers at BUY BUY Baby. You can test drive the stroller around the store and even take them out to your car to make sure they fit in your trunk!
3 MORE TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE
Jogger strollers are much lighter than traditional strollers, if you plan on spending a lot of time outside they are totally the way to go! Not only are they easier to control but the suspension puts less strain on your body!
When going down hill, bend your knees slightly, tuck your pelvis, and use your ab muscles to pull the stroller in towards your trunk. This will keep you from feeling like the stroller is dragging you down hill!
I probably sound like total mom right now but here it goes…..shoulders back & chin up! Let’s me real as mama’s we hunch over ALOT, so save your back and pretend you have a stack of books on your head that will tip over if you slouch!
